Mythopoetic: Women artists from Australia and India

Featuring the work Sometimes I Feel My Heart Will Burst.
Group exhibition curated by Marnie Dean, Griffith University Art Gallery, QCA Project Gallery, QCA Webb Gallery, South Brisbane, Queensland, 10 April – 18 May 2013.

Digital print, hand-cut on polyethylene, 2,300 x 5,500mm.

The exhibition took place across three galleries located at Griffith University’s Queensland College of Art. The work of 15 artists was brought together by emerging curator Marnie Dean. Mythopoetic: women artists from India and Australia surveyed the way in which artists are re-picturing, re-contextualising and re-imagining the feminine. The new mythology referred to is the collective embodiment of stories, histories and images that disrupt assumptions and visual representations of the physical body, identity, gendered roles, and sexuality.

This is the second exhibition for Sometimes I Feel My Heart Will Burst. The premier installation of this work was for the exhibition Cognition at Gippsland Art Gallery, Sale, Victoria December 2012 – January 2013.
